I know that technically its not “Fall” until September 22nd but Fall always comes real early at our house! Fall is one of my most favorite seasons, I love all the changing colors in the leaves and the fresh cool air. When I start decorating for a new season or holiday in my house I always pick one piece to start with first. Typically this is a larger item in my house, I feel by going to one area at a time it doesn’t become as over whelming. Even though at this moment if you were to walk into my house it looks like fall has exploded all over my living room.
This is the piece that I always start with first in our house, I picked this up a couple of years ago for $25 dollars and refinished it. I washed it down and then sanded it a little bit, I then painted it with a white and black chalk paint, we took the little knobs off and my husband spray painted them in a black. The drawers might not sit perfect but I love this this piece!
Here is what the piece looks like after it was repainted! So I spent yesterday afternoon and part of the evening trying to decide how I wanted to decorate it this year for Fall! I moved things, added things and took things away a million times. Im sure you all do the same thing! Its just so hard sometimes to decide! I figured since it just the beginning of September that I would keep things more light and airy. I always leave the mirror up but everything through out the year usually changes.
I love letter boards I have multiples of them and use them everywhere. This letter board came in my last subscription box from Third & Main
The pumpkins are from the bullseye section at target and the little wooden bowl they are sitting in I got from Hobby Lobby last year. I think it was part of the spring selection.
Neutral colors are probably my favorite to use when it comes to decorating. I feel like our entire house is a variation of neutral shades.
I got the metal lantern last year at the end of the summer from target on a crazy clearance. I love lanterns I have a ton of them in different metals and blacks in all kinds of different sizes and shapes. Inside the lantern I have a wooden pumpkin that I picked up a couple of days ago from HomeGoods. The greenery thats under the pumpkin came from one of my Third & Main Subscription Boxes and then I just placed some little twinkle lights underneath of it! You can pretty much find those little sting lights all year round especially if you look at Tj Maxx or HomeGoods.
The little green pumpkin also came from the target bullseye section and the other two white pumpkins I got last year from Hobby Lobby.
I was wanting some white distressed holders for candles or other items aka pumpkins and I couldn’t find anything that felt right. So I picked up two wooden ones and just painted them and distressed them myself.
I had thought originally that maybe I should change up the wreath and do something a little different because I have had it up all year but I actually really love the pop of color that it adds. I found this wreath last year at HomeGoods. Box wood wreaths are my favorite they can be a little expensive but they are sooo worth it in my opinion!!
The mirror I got from Hobby Lobby on another crazy clearance sale because the very bottom of the wooden frame was cracked I paid under $40 dollars for it, it was listed originally for over $100!
The metal jacks was on of my favorite finds from this summer! I went to a local market thats hosts evens in our area twice a year. The lady at the both had an entire box of them for only $5 dollars, I still kick myself for not buying at least one more! So hopefully she will be back again for the winter one!!
Do any of you have pussy willows in your house for decor? I had no idea what a pussy willow tree was until my grandma called one day and asked me if I wanted some branches that she had just cut. I had to google what they looked like because I had no clue. After looking them up I said “I think I’ll pass” well I went to her house the next day and she had them all styled super cute, thats when I changed my mind I for sure needed them in my life!! I always change up the vase that they are in. This was the first time putting them in this clear jar looking vase and I love it so much I think Ill keep them in that for awhile! Im not sure where it came from, I got it as a gift from a friend but Im a person can find one from Target or Hobby Lobby.Over all Im super happy with how this came out and I can’t wait to finish the rest of the house, Im sure my husband is also ready for me to finish putting the rest away so he doesn’t have to make a new path to the front each time he wants to leave the house! I would love to hear what you think of this look and also tell me what you love to decorate most in your house!! I can’t wait to share the next spot with you, fingers crossed I can get it finished before the weekend!!
